Adoption Process & Fees

When applying for a dog/puppy please note that we are 100% foster/volunteer based, so we are not always able to respond right away. Applications are reviewed once we have confirmation that a dog is available/is on their way to PA.  Submission of an application does NOT ensure approval or that you will be approved for the specific dog(s) you are interested in. We do NOT run on a "first come first serve basis". On occasion an applicant can be pre-approved if they have completed all of the steps below. Typically this only occurs if approved for a dog as a "back-up" or similar scenario.

Step 1:

Submit an

Application

Fill out the adoption application completely and entirely. Be sure to include active phone numbers for yourself and your references.

Step 2:

Phone Interview

If your home appears to be a good fit we will contact you for a brief phone interview. We do our best to contact every applicant.

Step 3:

Reference Check

The references you have listed on your application, both personal and veterinary, will be contacted.

Step 4:

Home Check

We will perform a home check (virtual or in-person). A virtual home check would include photos of your home and property.

Step 5:

Meet & Adopt

A meet and greet will be scheduled and if all goes well you will soon take home your new furry friend!

Our dog adoption fees typically range from $300 - 550
Fees will vary based on the age and the medical costs for the particular dog.

What is included in the adoption fee:

  • Veterinary visit ($40-65)

  • Transport Health Certification, if from out of state ($50-75)

  • Spaying or neutering ($125 - $800+)

  • Distemper vaccination ($20 - $30 each)

  • Rabies vaccination ($15 - $25)

  • Heartworm test for adult dogs ($15 - $35+)

  • Up to date on Flea/Tick preventatives ($15 - $25)

  • Deworming ($15 - $50+ each dose)

  • Transport ($175 - $250)

Our dogs may also receive:

  • 4DX testing for heartworm and tick-borne illnesses ($35 - $90)

  • Bordetella Vaccinations ($15 - $30)

  • HW preventatives ($15 - $25)

  • Flea/Tick preventatives ($15 - $50)

  • Microchip ($30 - $50+)

For our dogs who are not yet spayed/neutered, such as puppies who are under the age of 6 months old, we do adopt them out under a spay/neuter contract and hold a spay/neuter deposit within the adoption fee. Adopters then schedule a date with our veterinarian that works for them to have their dog fixed and microchipped. If an adopter chooses to have their vet perform the procedure and provides proof of sterilization then we return the deposit.

Our adoption fee for cats may be $100 - $200 for adult cats and will include spay/neuter, microchip, FVRCP vaccine, rabies vaccine, and deworming(s).

Out adoption fee for kittens is $200 for a single kitten or $350 for a pair. The kitten(s) will be up to date on age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, may/will be microchipped, and may/will be spayed or neutered within the adoption fee.

We do adopt out of state and have wonderful dogs and adopters who reside in Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, West Virginia, Connecticut, and Maryland in addition to our base in Pennsylvania.

We generally consider applicants who are within approximately 200 miles of Blue Bell, Pa, but we prioritize more local adopters over distant adopters.  We will make some exceptions for the right fit.

We use Providence Animal Center (PAC), located in Media, PA, for most of our spay/neuter procedures for dogs who are not yet spayed/neutered upon arrival to PA from TX. They are also able to perform various other procedures and/or surgeries for a much more affordable costs than other veterinarians.
